Did you see this piece on your door recently?

October 16, 2024 - Once again, my opponent (Eric Stare) is making wild charges that have nothing to do with the truth. Maybe you received this latest piece, where he again repeats the previously debunked claim (see following article on this page) that I support removing the South Elgin dam and that, if elected, he will miraculously save it (even though the Kane County Board has no authority whatsoever to do so)?

You've heard the expression "Desperate men do desperate things" right? Well, that pretty much sums up Stare's behavior during this campaign. In his latest piece, he goes even further in fabricating the truth. Below is a small sample of Stare's latest falsehoods:

  • He says I "unethically" charged 9,277 miles for mileage to my campaign account two years ago. In reality, it was under 1,900 miles, which was actually much less than I could have legally claimed, as most candidates do (I traveled well over that amount visiting voters, attending events, and conducting other campaign business).
  • I am not a "six-figured (sic) career bureaucrat" as Stare falsely claims, and did not make that salary when I retired two years ago to devote myself full-time to volunteering in the community.
  • I have not received over $20,000 from "union bosses" during this campaign as he falsely claims, but I am proud of the support I received from my friends and members in the labor community and humbled by their belief in me. There can be no greater display of patriotism than to stand up for the people who built this nation.
  • He says I have been "silent" on certain issues, but he's the one who has been hiding. I agreed to participate in joint forums and filled out various newspaper questionnaires while Stare has been a no-show.

Why has Eric been a no-show at public forums and spreading all the lies and misinformation about me? Is it because he doesn't want you to know the truth about him and what he's done? Here's what Eric Stare doesn't want you to know:

  • He hopes you'll never find out that he voted to increase Elgin Township property tax levies three years in a row.*
  • He voted against programs for seniors and at-risk youth in Elgin Township.*
  • Even though he voted to raise Elgin Township property taxes, he voted against helping low-income seniors obtain needed healthcare and feeding our hungry neighbors so he can fund a private, right-wing clinic.*

Please don't be taken in by the desperate acts of a desperate candidate.

Did you get this piece in the mail recently?

August 19, 2024 – My opponent's first general election campaign piece is littered with false information.

It’s a shameless attempt by extremist MAGA Republican Eric Stare to mislead you with false information and outright lies.

In the mailer, Stare claims that “As your County Board member I’ll oppose the removal of our beautiful dam…” But his promise "doesn't hold water."

Here's the truth...

The Kane County Board has no vote, no role, no influence, no say whatsoever in the future of the South Elgin Dam and Stare knows it – or should. The river and its dams are owned by the State of Illinois and controlled by the Department of Natural Resources (IDNR).

Per state law, ONLY the IDNR and the Village of South Elgin (and its elected officials) will decide what happens to the South Elgin Dam, NOT Kane County.

Don’t be fooled by the misinformation and empty promises of an extreme right politician desperate to win an election. If he doesn’t have enough respect for you to tell you the truth, he doesn’t deserve your support.

The REAL facts...

Kane County government does NOT have jurisdiction over river dams

The Fox River and its dams are owned by the State of Illinois and controlled by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

The fate of the dam will be decided by the Village of South Elgin and its elected officials

Currently, the Army Corps of Engineers are conducting a study about dams and their impact on our ecosystem and property owners along the river’s path. Nothing will be happening anytime soon with the South Elgin dam.

My position is that elected officials should always do what's best for the community

I have met with many who own property along the river and listened to their concerns. I stated unequivocally then—and will continue to do so—that all parties affected by the dam removal must have their issues addressed during the process. I will always stand with the community’s wishes.
